Head-to-Head: Thursday night marks the 18th lifetime meeting between the two schools. Millbrook started the series by winning its first ten games, but the Huskies have come on strong with wins in four of the last seven meetings. Heritage defeated Millbrook in three of four games last season including its second consecutive home win against the Wildcats; Millbrook has not won at Heritage since February 2015.
The Wildcats won its last contest vs. the Huskies, a thrilling 57-54 win to clinch its second straight Cap-8 Conference Tournament Championship over Heritage. Collin Lewis was one of two Millbrook players to score in double figures as his 15 points helped guide the Wildcats to the win over the then-undefeated Huskies.
Tonight will be the first matchup in series history with conference implications not on the line. Millbrook and Heritage did play in a non-conference setting last season in the John Wall Holiday Invitational, a 67-43 Husky victory.
Last Time Out: Millbrook comes off of a season-opening 84-77 win against Apex. Lewis caught fire from downtown as he poured in career high numbers in points scored, and three-point baskets made. The Wildcats were tied after one quarter, and lead the Cougars by just a point at the halftime break. An 8-0 start to the third quarter would be the difference as Apex's Denzel Jacobson would narrow the gap late with 15 fourth quarter points. Phillip Burwell and Jabari Brown added 17 points each for Millbrook.
Heritage breezed through its first game of the season, winning 83-66 at Holly Springs. Seniors Jayden Gardner and Jarren McAllister combined for 48 points in the win, both have signed to play Division-I basketball. Freshman, Redford Dunton was the only other Husky to register double-digit scoring totals as he dropped in 15 points. Gardner led Heritage in rebounding by pairing 16 boards with his 31 points scored.
Behind The Numbers: Millbrook is 0-2 at Heritage since winning 118-88 in February of 2015. The Huskies topped the undefeated Wildcats 96-85 in 2016, then used a strong fourth quarter to dispatch of them 77-69 earlier this year.
Two of the starting five players from last year's Cap-8 Tournament Championship Game return for Millbrook this season.
Junior Varsity: Millbrook JV tips off at Heritage at 5:30 PM, the Wildcats defeated the Huskies by scores of 60-26, and 86-51 last season.
