Millbrook senior, Jordan Whitfield announced his commitment to Division-I Campbell University on Thursday night. Whitfield, a 6’1 point guard becomes the 12th member of the Millbrook Basketball program to commit to a collegiate program since 2014, he is also the first player to commit to a Division-I school since Chris Clemons also selected Campbell in November of 2014.
Whitfield started in 27 games for the Wildcats last year, and he earned his first varsity letter at the school after averaging a team-high 13.9 points per game, and dishing out 3.8 assists per contest which was second on the team. Jordan received 1st Team All-Conference merits, and his 403 points scored last year was tied for the 15th most in a single season in program history. Jordan scored in double digits 20 times last season, and he tallied 20+ points on six occasions including a career-high 24 at Sanderson on January 15th.
Coach Kevin McGeehan and the Campbell Fighting Camels continue to strengthen their ties with the Millbrook Basketball program after receiving Whitfield’s verbal commitment. Chris Clemons (‘15) started every game for the Camels last season, and he turned in a Big South Freshman of the Year worthy performance in his opening season in Buies Creek. Jordan Whitfield’s older brother Shane was also a member of Campbell’s starting five players last year as he averaged 7.6 PPG in 2015-16. Campbell is a member of the Big South Conference, and they finished with a 12-18 record last season.

The Millbrook Basketball program begins their 83rd season of action with tryouts on October 31st. The Wildcats kick off their season on November 15th when the Freshman and Junior Varsity teams travel to Knightdale; Varsity starts their season hosting the Knights in the Inaugural HighSchoolOT.com Triangle Tip-Off at Millbrook on November 17th.
